Town Hall, Civic Museum and Torre Grossa
Also located in Piazza Duomo is the Palazzo Nuovo del Podestà, more simply called Palazzo Comunale or Palazzo del Popolo. Inside it is possible to find the historic site of the Civic Museums of San Gimignano, with the cistern from 1361 placed at the entrance and the frescoes by Sodoma.
Following the layout arranged inside, you can admire some stupendous cycles of frescoes, including the Sala di Dante, in which hunting and tournament scenes are depicted. Not to be missed: the Camera del Podestà.
The Civic Museum building also houses the town's art gallery, where numerous works can be admired (including those by Pinturicchio and Filippino Lippi) as well as the Torre Grossa, the tallest tower in San Gimignano (height to which it owes its name) from where to enjoy a unique show.
